Craftsmanship and Calm: When Taiwanese Tea Tradition Meets Boston’s South End Design Culture

Heritage Leaves × Fred’s | A Gathering of Craft, Culture, and Connection

Boston, MA — October 2025 — This fall, Heritage Leaves, a premium Taiwanese tea brand celebrated for its mountain-grown oolong and family heritage, joins hands with Fred’s, one of Boston’s most beloved design destinations, for an intimate two-day pop-up celebrating craftsmanship, culture, and the art of slowing down.

Held in the heart of the South End — a neighborhood where creativity, community, and culture intersect — the event invites guests to sip, explore, and share stories across two worlds united by design and devotion.

“When I first walked into Fred’s, I felt something familiar,” says John Lin, founder of Heritage Leaves.
“The attention to detail and quiet beauty in every corner reminded me of home. My family has been handcrafting tea in the mountains of Nantou, Taiwan, for generations — and Fred’s shares that same spirit of thoughtful creation, where every object, like every tea leaf, tells a story.”

About Fred’s — Where Design Meets Legacy

Founded by JoJo, Fred’s is named in honor of his father — a chef and restaurateur whose influence shaped his sense of care, taste, and tradition. Inspired by Paris’s legendary kitchen store E. Dehillerin, Fred’s blends timeless craftsmanship with modern simplicity, curating everything from hand-thrown ceramics to artisanal cooking tools.

Fred’s isn’t just a store — it’s a story about craftsmanship passed down through generations. It’s this same devotion to legacy and everyday beauty that makes Fred’s the perfect setting for Heritage Leaves’ first Boston collaboration.

The Pop-Up Experience | October 18–19

Guests are invited to experience tea not just as a beverage, but as design in motion.

  • Tea Tastings: Savor award-winning Black Oolong and Oolong teas, hand-picked from high-mountain gardens in Nantou, Taiwan.
  • Complimentary Sampler Packs: Take home a little piece of Taiwan — on us.
  • Exclusive 10% Discount: Available on all Heritage Leaves products during the event.

Whether you’re on a weekend stroll through the South End or seeking your next design inspiration, stop by Fred’s for a mindful pause — one steeped in culture, warmth, and quiet joy.

Why This Collaboration Matters

For John Lin, who divides his time between Boston and Taiwan, tea is more than a drink — it’s a way to connect worlds.

“Tea has always been about people,” Lin explains. “It’s about slowing down, listening, and sharing. Partnering with Joe and Fred’s felt effortless because we both believe in honoring craft, legacy, and the small moments that make life meaningful.”

Together, Heritage Leaves and Fred’s represent a meeting of two heritages — one rooted in the soil of Taiwan’s tea mountains, the other in the heart of Boston’s design scene — reminding us that true craftsmanship transcends borders, and that beauty is best experienced slowly.
